One Skirt: From The Office to Happy Hour

Office --> Happy Hour
One of the challenges women face in the corporate world is how to take their daytime office look in to the evening, without packing a completely new outfit. I’d love to take on this challenge and start a series of how-tos, taking one piece and translating it from office to evening. I’ve started with this gorgeous Prabal Gurung lace pencil skirt. For day, I paired it with a clean, silk blouse and a matching blazer. Keep the accessories minimal: a stack of bracelets, funky specs, and a nude pump (with a little bling!). To change for cocktails, switch out the blouse for a soft tank. Add killer heels, cool jewelry, and amp up your makeup a little. What do you think? How would you wear this skirt for the day or night? Tell me in the comments!

Prints Please

For some strange reason, I haven’t been able to get my boyfriend new photographer out of bed in the morning to take my picture before work… These mini shots thanks to the good old iPhone will have to suffice. Apparently, I have been crushing prints lately… which is your favorite?

Sunday in the Park

Wearing – Dress: no label (similar skirt – just add a black tank!), Bag: DVF, Shades: Ray Ban, Jewelry: gifted, vintage, Off 5th

I made the big move to NYC last week, and I had a great weekend exploring our neighborhoods with the manfriend. Yesterday, we grabbed coffee and unbeatable New York bagels, and we hit a park near my apartment to enjoy the beautiful weather. Now back to reality… Happy Monday!

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold Brogues

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold oxford flats

I’ve been lusting over metallic brogues recently. The dressed up flat is a great option for those who prefer to leave the heels at home. There are about a million ways to wear these metallic gold oxfords, but here are three of my favorites! The first look would make for a cute and casual date night outfit. Silk floral shorts are the modern version of a skirt. Pair them with a blouse and a leather jacket and you are ready for dinner and a movie! For the second look, the gold brogues are a fun accent piece to a basic jeans and sweater ensemble. Wear this on a shopping trip or for lunch with friends. The last look combines a modern shirtdress with the trendy flats. Add a cool, studded belt for shape, and you are ready to hit happy hour. What do you say? Are gold brogues for you?

Undone

I would venture the guess that 97% of the time, I do my hair and put makeup on… However, when the weather outside is not fit for man nor beast (as Yukon Cornelius would say in the Christmas classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer), I tend to go au natural. This is a prime example of that…

Wearing – Top: Madewell (old), Jeans: Lucky Brand, Shoe: c/o Steve Madden (black version), Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: gift, Earrings: Stephen & Co. (similar)

I truly believe every woman should attempt to be comfortable in their natural state, so this post honors that. There is never a time, however, when I prefer to go without heels… 🙂

Officially Done and Off to the Shore!

I took my last college final this morning! This is what I wore… Excuse the hair, I had a long day of sunbathing, er studying yesterday. Also, the manfriend took these shots while I was packing up some of my apartment. Some (or all) of them are very unprofessional… 🙂

Wearing – Tank: Michael Kors, Sweater: UO, Boyfriend shorts: Gap, Shoes: Steve Madden, Watch: Tommy Hilfiger, Jewelry: vintage, Alison Moses ring, Stephen & Co. skull earrings

The manfriend: “Hehehe butt shot”… Followed shortly by my grow-up look’: (signature look, don’t even try to copy)

What can I say, we have our fun. Anyway, now that I am officially done with finals, my friends and I are headed to the beach for the weekend! Hopefully I will get lots of photos to share. Have a great weekend!

Rainy Day

Wearing – Shorts: F21 (love this pair too), Shirt: J.Crew (similar), Socks: J.Crew (like this pair too), Boots: Michael Kors, Glasses: Tiffany & Co.

When I was a little girl, I used to put my bathing suit on and play outside in the rain with my big brother. (I wonder if I have any pictures of that scene…) Now, however, I avoid the rain like I’m the Wicked Witch of the West. What I mean to say is, this is one of the few times you will see me venturing in to the rain. Remember what I told you about humidity and my hair… yeah, just imagine it wet. Those were dark days before the invention of the flat iron…

1 piece 3 ways: Splendid Polka Dot Blouse

1 piece 3 ways: Polka Dot Blouse
I have a thing for polka dots… Maybe it stems back to my days of wearing Minnie Mouse ears complete with a red and white polka dot bow… Either way, this navy polka dot blouse by Splendid is adorable and (to use an adult word) versatile! Here are three of my favorite ways to wear this blouse, ranging from chic daywear to young and casual to work appropriate.
