Wear Now, Wear Later: White Trousers

Wear Now, Wear Later; White Trousers
Here is another installment in my “Wear Now, Wear Later” series, featuring white trousers which are on my wish-list for Spring. For the now look I went a little nautical with a navy/white striped sweater. To keep it from feeling too preppy, I added an olive-hued trench coat and pretty pumps in a contrasting print. This look still feels light and fresh for Spring, but it’s covered enough to combat the still-cool temps. Later, ditch the overcoat and sweater, in favor of a breezy top with beautiful on-trend embroidery. Give your toes a breath of fresh air with these mustard sandals, and add black accessories for a chic black and white ensemble.

Now: Reiss trousers, J. Crew top, Vanessa Bruno Jacket, J. Crew pumps, Miss Selfridge bracelet pack, Topshop satchel, and Estee Lauder lipstick.

Later: Reiss trousers, Temperley London top, Theory sandals, Bar III bracelets, ALDO clutch, and Pim + Larkin studs

Have a great weekend!

4 Ways to Holiday Chic

Holiday Chic

Fashionable friends, I wanted to share with you the basic formulas I implement when dressing for the holidays. Here are 4 outfits that I will be wearing this season:

1. Family Holiday Party: Black jeans + Fun blouse + Lace-up Booties + Simple gold jewelry
–Family parties usually involve lots of food, drinks, and catching-up so comfort is essential. For this look, I chose James Jeans black skinnies, a fun blouse from Modcloth, on-trend Bakers lace-up booties, a KJL black cocktail ring, and gold bangles.
2. Christmas Eve: LBD + Amazing coat + Festive heels
–Christmas Eve is typically spent having cocktails with family friends and/or going to church (er, maybe not in that order…) Since this is the only time during the entire year that I hit up church, I try my best to impress the big man upstairs. A no-fail LBD, like this one from Karen Millen, is the perfect thing. Add festive pumps (Charlotte Olympia), opaque tights, a metallic belt, and drop earrings to finish the look. Top it off with a fancy coat (Dolce and Gabbana), and you have a classic, chic look.
3. Christmas Day: Leggings + Slouchy Sweater + Pashmina + Loafers
I’m not planning on leaving my couch on Christmas Day, but since there will probably be guests at my parent’s house I will reluctantly change out of my pajamas. An equally comfortable and infinitely chicer option are these tweed Stella McCartney leggings with a slouchy black sweater. Add a printed scarf, like this Rag & Bone beauty, and studded loafers to bring the look up a couple notches.
4. New Year’s Eve: Metallic-y Dress + Pumps + Unexpected Accessories
–I’m not really a sequin person, so this subtly metallic dress from AllSaints is a perfect NYE option for me. It is feminine but structured, and is it obvious that I am completely in love with it? Unexpected accessories like a leopard belt and a cranberry clutch keep the look youthful and cool. Add a little extra shine with these gold pumps, and you are ready to ring in the New Year in style.

One Skirt: From The Office to Happy Hour

Office --> Happy Hour
One of the challenges women face in the corporate world is how to take their daytime office look in to the evening, without packing a completely new outfit. I’d love to take on this challenge and start a series of how-tos, taking one piece and translating it from office to evening. I’ve started with this gorgeous Prabal Gurung lace pencil skirt. For day, I paired it with a clean, silk blouse and a matching blazer. Keep the accessories minimal: a stack of bracelets, funky specs, and a nude pump (with a little bling!). To change for cocktails, switch out the blouse for a soft tank. Add killer heels, cool jewelry, and amp up your makeup a little. What do you think? How would you wear this skirt for the day or night? Tell me in the comments!

Prints Please

For some strange reason, I haven’t been able to get my boyfriend new photographer out of bed in the morning to take my picture before work… These mini shots thanks to the good old iPhone will have to suffice. Apparently, I have been crushing prints lately… which is your favorite?

Clockwise from top – Shoes: c/o Steve Madden, Pants: Zara, Ikat wrap dress: Maeve @ Anthropologie, Heart Dress: Diane von Furstenberg, Studded Belt: Forever21

Currently Craving: Miu Miu Crystal-Embellished Pumps

These Miu Miu pumps are simply beautiful. They have a great vintage feel to them, while still looking modern with the faceted crystal embellishment. I would kill for these… so don’t cross me with these on your feet (especially if you are a size 6.5!) Just kidding…

July 4th: 3 Ways

Lisa Marie Fernandez bikini, American Vintage tank, denim shorts (love these), H&M sandals

Whether you are catching the fireworks with your friends on the beach….

Miu Miu sunglasses, Chinti and Parker maxi dress, Michael Kors watch, Dolce Vita sandals

Or enjoying cocktails with family outside on a verandah…

Ray Ban Sunnies, Alexander Wang tank, French Connection Skirt, DVF wedges, Madewell Shirt

Or setting sail…These are my three outfit suggestions for Fourth of July. Ditch the flag tee, ladies, and embrace the Red, White and Blue in modern ways.

Inspired by: Charlize Theron

Charlize Inspiration
Trendy and Tailored. Taking on the jumpsuit trend is not easy. The most flattering shape is one that cinches at the waist, creating that covetable hour-glass figure. Another thing to look for is a straight or slightly tapered leg line, because this is a more modern cut. I chose a jumpsuit in black, because it is a bit easier to pull off and more versatile than the orange jumpsuit Charlize is wearing. I recommend keeping the accessories light and simple, as she has done.
Simple and Streamlined. The Stella McCartney ensemble Charlize is wearing above is also hard to duplicate. Look for a faux wrap tulip skirt, like the one shown.  The draping of this skirt is a figure flattering style for those of us who are not 5’10”. Pick a top in a similar or matching hue, and add interest with strong accessories like a black wedge bootie and a silver collar necklace. In both looks, Charlize is sporting jet black nails, which keeps her style perfectly polished.
Which look do you like best?

Sunday in the Park

Wearing – Dress: no label (similar skirt – just add a black tank!), Bag: DVF, Shades: Ray Ban, Jewelry: gifted, vintage, Off 5th

I made the big move to NYC last week, and I had a great weekend exploring our neighborhoods with the manfriend. Yesterday, we grabbed coffee and unbeatable New York bagels, and we hit a park near my apartment to enjoy the beautiful weather. Now back to reality… Happy Monday!

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold Brogues

1 piece, 3 ways: Gold oxford flats

I’ve been lusting over metallic brogues recently. The dressed up flat is a great option for those who prefer to leave the heels at home. There are about a million ways to wear these metallic gold oxfords, but here are three of my favorites! The first look would make for a cute and casual date night outfit. Silk floral shorts are the modern version of a skirt. Pair them with a blouse and a leather jacket and you are ready for dinner and a movie! For the second look, the gold brogues are a fun accent piece to a basic jeans and sweater ensemble. Wear this on a shopping trip or for lunch with friends. The last look combines a modern shirtdress with the trendy flats. Add a cool, studded belt for shape, and you are ready to hit happy hour. What do you say? Are gold brogues for you?

Stand-By Summer Style

Wearing – Dress: Nine West (old, but love this Calvin Klein version), Sandals: similar, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (love this version too), Necklace and Earrings: Stephen & Co., Bracelets: gift

It’s raining again… big surprise. But in spite of the weather, I am wearing whatever I want. This is my go-to warm weather dress, and I’ve probably worn it three times already this season. Shocking, I know. (For those who don’t know, that is an unheard of statistic for me)… Anyway, my fingers are crossed for nice weather this weekend!
