Whatever the weather (umm hello, 90 degrees), my mind is on Fall fashion! Runway looks usually feel so unattainable to me, like works of art that I love looking at but could never recreate. So I wanted to try a new series where I take inspiration from the runway and make it accessible for real life (because lets face it, we aren’t all models or street-style stars)… This 3.1 Phillip Lim look from Fall 2013 isn’t too over the top so it’s a great place to start. For the work look, I balanced the bold pant with a classic white blouse and a dark knit. On the weekend, I swapped the blouse for a chambray and added ankle booties to keep it effortlessly chic. What do you think? Can you see yourself rocking a bold pant and layers for work or weekend?

How effortlessly chic is this!?! Roomy shorts, a semi-sheer oversized knit, and flat sandals come together perfectly for an easy, breezy Summertime look. Plus, I love the neutral color palette and simple jewelry – it can be really refreshing to go simple sometimes, don’t you think?

Currently Craving: Metallics
The evolution of metallics from just a pocket watch or a bauble around a woman’s neck to ready-to-wear pieces (Celine, Burberry, Matthew Williamson, DVF) is a truly beautiful thing. Lately I have been particularly drawn to metallic footwear, in all shapes and styles with a gold, silver, rose gold, copper or bronze glimmer. Here is a round-up of some of my favorites right now… enjoy!
1. Rebecca Minkoff 2. Dolce Vita (under $100!) 3. Jimmy Choo 4. Rebecca Minkoff 5. Tory Burch 6. Kate Spade 7. Cole Haan (love citrus laces!) 8. Coach 9. Rag & Bone 10. BCBG ($50!) 11. Michael Kors

Currently Craving: Gloves

Gloves and mittens are a tricky accessory – I used to maintain the belief that they were merely a hindrance, a superfluous addition that served virtually the same purpose as pockets (which I am able to insert and remove my hand from with ease when I need to). On the other hand (har har), I feel I am missing a shopping, er fashion, opportunity… Well, that and how amazing are leather gloves for clapping at a hockey game? Thus, here is a round-up of some mittens and gloves that I am just dying to get my hands on in…

P.S. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Trend Report: Crave the Rose
Spring is far from arriving, but fashion is absolutely blooming with rose prints, patterns, appliques, and jewels. I was so inspired, that I found a beautiful rose-print silk blouse in the far corners of my closet last week that I dusted off and wore to work. Here is a round-up of some of my favorite rose-inspired pieces for you to get on trend:

4 Ways to Holiday Chic

Holiday Chic

Fashionable friends, I wanted to share with you the basic formulas I implement when dressing for the holidays. Here are 4 outfits that I will be wearing this season:

1. Family Holiday Party: Black jeans + Fun blouse + Lace-up Booties + Simple gold jewelry
–Family parties usually involve lots of food, drinks, and catching-up so comfort is essential. For this look, I chose James Jeans black skinnies, a fun blouse from Modcloth, on-trend Bakers lace-up booties, a KJL black cocktail ring, and gold bangles.
2. Christmas Eve: LBD + Amazing coat + Festive heels
–Christmas Eve is typically spent having cocktails with family friends and/or going to church (er, maybe not in that order…) Since this is the only time during the entire year that I hit up church, I try my best to impress the big man upstairs. A no-fail LBD, like this one from Karen Millen, is the perfect thing. Add festive pumps (Charlotte Olympia), opaque tights, a metallic belt, and drop earrings to finish the look. Top it off with a fancy coat (Dolce and Gabbana), and you have a classic, chic look.
3. Christmas Day: Leggings + Slouchy Sweater + Pashmina + Loafers
I’m not planning on leaving my couch on Christmas Day, but since there will probably be guests at my parent’s house I will reluctantly change out of my pajamas. An equally comfortable and infinitely chicer option are these tweed Stella McCartney leggings with a slouchy black sweater. Add a printed scarf, like this Rag & Bone beauty, and studded loafers to bring the look up a couple notches.
4. New Year’s Eve: Metallic-y Dress + Pumps + Unexpected Accessories
–I’m not really a sequin person, so this subtly metallic dress from AllSaints is a perfect NYE option for me. It is feminine but structured, and is it obvious that I am completely in love with it? Unexpected accessories like a leopard belt and a cranberry clutch keep the look youthful and cool. Add a little extra shine with these gold pumps, and you are ready to ring in the New Year in style.

Then add some trendy accessories like this wool fedora, round-frame sunnies, and lace-up ankle booties and voila, cool-girl weekend chic!

Thanksgiving Style Inspiration

What to Wear: Thanksgiving Edition
Whether your Thanksgiving feast is fancy or laid-back, I’ve got you covered with three different outfit ideas for the upcoming holiday.
Look 1: If a dress is required, opt for something easy and fluid, like this All Saints jersey dress (LOVE the asymmetrical hem!).  Combining grays and browns is modern, and it looks very luxe… It is a great way to take a simple gray dress like this and bump it up a notch for the holiday. Add delicate gold jewelry and comfortable leopard flats to pull it all together.
AllSaints Dress, Rag & Bone Belt, J.Crew Leopard Flats, Gorjana Necklace, Chloe Ring, PS Bag
Look 2: Holidays are an opportunity for dressing up, right? Try a feminine midi-skirt with a slim metallic-gray tank. The skirt speaks for itself, so top the look off with a similar gray-hued coat for minimalist chic. The finishing touches? Ankle booties and a stack of multi-metallic bangles.
Lanvin Skirt, Valentino Tank, Zero + Maria Cornejo Coat, Balenciaga Booties, Barneys NY Trouser Socks, BCBG Envelope Clutch, Miss Selfridge Bangles
Look 3: Planning to eat A LOT and lounge on the couch watching football? (Me too…) Then jeans, a cozy sweater, and a chic scarf is the look for you. Heeled leather booties and gold accessories, like this watch and jeweled studs, dress the look up a little.
D & G Jeans, Burberry Brit Sweater, Lanvin Scarf, Mango Booties, Michael Kors Watch, Target Studs
